Warning: Always discharge static electricity before you touch any parts or install any components inside the computerģ. Holding the back cover by the metal foot, tilt the cover up and lift it off th Don’t force the screws once they stop turning. Turn the screws to the left until they stop turning. Using the tool provided, or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, loosen the three captive screws. Note: These screws are captive they are part of the display/bezel assembly and cannot be removed. You may have to lift the stand to locate the middle case screw. Locate the three silver case screws circled below. Hold the sides of the computer and slowly lay the computer face dĤ. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Disconnect all cables, and unplug the power cord from your computer. Turn off your computer by choosing Shut Down from the Apple (K) menu. The models may look slightly different from one shown in the illustration however, the following procedure applies to both models. The Apple Power Mac G5 was manufactured from the years 2003 to 2006. Important: The RAM must be installed in pairs, one chip in the top slot and one in the bottom of the module. Take the new memory chips and click them into place in the module, making sure to line up the notch on the DIMM and the gap on the RAM module to enable functioning of the memory. This should release the memory chips so they can be removed safely. Remove the air deflector and the fan assembly, and then locate the memory module on the circuit board of the desktop.
